About

The Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br) was established with the mission of producing data on access to information and communication technologies (ICT), as well as their use and appropriation by the Brazilian society. The data collected by the Center have been key to the design and monitoring of public policies in the sector.

In 2012, Cetic.br|NIC.br became a Category 2 Center under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the first of its kind dedicated to the development of information and knowledge societies. Since then, Cetic.br|NIC.br has collaborated with Latin America and Portuguese-speaking African countries, offered capacity-building programs in research methodologies, and conducted analyses on the socioeconomic impacts of ICT.

To celebrate Cetic.br|NIC.br’s twentieth anniversary, this International Seminar will promote a reflection on the evolution of the digital agenda over the last two decades. The discussions will address key topics such as digital inclusion and the challenges of achieving meaningful connectivity, the digital transformation of the economy and the public sector, and the impacts of the digital transformation on social policies, such as in health and education. In addition, it will contribute to shaping a research agenda aimed at fostering the development of inclusive and sustainable digital societies.

The Seminar will bring together experts from various sectors critical to digital public policies, including government authorities, international organizations, academia, the private sector, and civil society organizations.

The event is free of charge and will be held in person, with a live stream available on the NIC.br YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/nicbrvideos).
